It's a funny thing - everyday I go through my blog list to read the latest from my favorite people that I rarely get to see and most days, there's not many updated blogs. I hate it when that happens and I find myself thinking, Really? Come on! I've got like 40 blogs listed here and the majority of them haven't been updated in over two weeks - what is that? Shows how much I love reading about your lives. And then I remember, well... I guess I haven't updated in awhile either.
So, here's my update - which I hope will inspire you to go update. :-)
Let's see, the last time I updated was my birthday, but I didn't really give any detail. Ok. Here I go -
This year for my birthday I felt so spoiled. Usually for my birthday I'll go to dinner with a group of friends and then have a dessert get-together at my place that I planned myself. This year, seeing as how the majority of my close friends don't live close by anymore, I decided I didn't want to plan anything so I just invited my friend Jayni over to watch a chick flick in our comfy clothes and order Chinese take-out (which was so kindly provided by my roommate). Turns out, not planning things yourself is the way to go. The week of my birthday, Chad took me to dinner at Texas Roadhouse (all I wanted was the loaded mashed potatoes because mmmm those things are good!), my friend Kathryn visited the weekend before and treated me to a pedicure, then my brother took me out to a sushi dinner and a movie of my choice (I chose Midnight in Paris and was very pleasantly surprised) AND he brought me some awesome gifts - once of which was "To the Rescue", President Monson's biography that I've been wanting to read for awhile now. Then my grandparents sent me a gift and a card, my Dad sent me a gift and a card - actually I'm wearing his gift right now; hold on I'll take a picture...
Pretty, huh? Then, my mother treated me to a morning at a day spa where I received a 60 min massage (which is a funny story in and of itself!), a 30 minute facial, 30 minute Sauna, and a 30 minute pedicure. Fantastic.
And then, to top it all off, last weekend Chad and I were leaving the movie theater (we saw Footloose - SO cute) and he said to me, "So... you're probably wondering why I didn't get you anything for your birthday..." Me: "No, I wasn't actually..." Him: "Well, I didn't because I've still been working on it and I think I finally got it so, can you get November 6th off of work?" Me: "Yeahhhh...?" Him: "How would you like to come with me to Arizona that weekend to see the Cardinals/Rams game?? (He has a side job some weekends where he travels to NFL and MLB games, meaning that I get to see him EVEN LESS during those times) Me: (So shocked I couldn't even show him how excited I really was) "Really? I would LOVE that!"
So, in a few weeks, Chad and I will be going on our first trip together. Warm weather and football will be involved. That's three of my favorite things in one weekend - and I'm really excited!
All-in-all, a GREAT birthday!

Regurgitated in a Cooler Way
I don't really have anything fun or exciting to report. Just busy busy busy per usual. However, I did FINALLY figure out how my friend Ashley gets her pictures to look so cool on her blog. I don't have any new pictures, but I was really anxious to try it out after I learned her secret... So here's some pictures of my and ma boi for your viewing pleasure (or displeasure - I don't care).
Totally neat, huh? I am going to have many much funness with this, I already know.

Boondocks
Here's a few pictures from my weekend:
On Friday my work had a "family party" at Boondocks Family Fun Center in Draper, UT. I didn't have a family to bring, so I brought Chad instead. We had fun with our all-access passes, free food, and 20 free tokens each for the arcade. It was like being a kid again. We went on the go carts twice... the second time we had the brilliant idea to sit together in the same cart. Let's just say that was, uh, a leetle snug. But hilarious. We laughed the entire time. I then proceeded to beat Chad at the basketball hoops, skeeball (sp?), air hockey, and numerous other racing games. Ok, he won a few times, but I was the overall champion.
Chad got interrogated by all of the coworkers I have that spend too much time being interested in my dating life, but overall, we had a lot of fun. One thing I really like about Chad is that he is fun... he's goofy and weird (in a cute way) and always knows what to do to make me laugh. He doesn't take himself too seriously, which makes it a lot easier for me to be my goofy, nerdy self. Besides, he thinks I'm funny, so... it works.

Two Birthdays and a Wedding
Here's a few quick pictures from my weekend.
Last week my friend Brittany was in town for our friend Emily's wedding. While she was here it was also her birthday. Brittany lives in Maryland (which, for those of you who struggle with geography, means that she lives on the opposite side of the country as me) so I hardly ever get to see her. So having her in town made me feel like I have friends again!
Then on Friday night I conned Chad into going to the wedding reception with me (HATE showing up to those things alone). Ok, I didn't have to con him. He's so sweet that he said yes. Plus, I went with him to a reception a couple of weeks ago, so I guess he owed me.
By the way, I heard a quote recently that made me laugh: "At weddings, old people always poke me and tell me, 'you're next!' So I started doing the same thing to them at funerals." Story OF my life.
On Saturday it was Chad's nephew Tyson's birthday, so we went to his brother's house for ice cream and cake. But Tyson doesn't like cake, so his mom made him a super cool donut-hole tower instead. We all sat outside and watched him open presents, then after that I soon found myself playing catch with 5 small children and simultaneously. Which then turned into keep-away (which I do not think is a fun game! Especially since I'm usually in the middle!) For some reason these kids think that I am so much fun. Did you read that people? I'm fun! Anyways, and then Chad and I tossed a football around for awhile. Loved it. Loved all of it. And now my butt is sore from running around on the grass. Pathetic.

It's Like Christmas in July!
I know, I know... three posts in one day? It's like the feast after the famine... it's like the best thing that's happened to you in forever.
Okay, maybe not, but still... pretty good for me, right?
I just thought I should put up a few pics of the last two weekends before it gets so far out that I forget or just find that the moment has passed.
Ok, that's all. As you were.

Some Other Random Things From Recently
I forgot to show you what the MASSIVE sandstorm that stranded us in the Phoenix airport looked like:
Also, in the last two weeks I have celebrated two of my favorite guys' birthdays: Chad and Andrew.
Chad's birthday was July 4th (conveniently easy to remember) and, because I know he wouldn't like it, I wont tell you that he turned 29. (Ooops! Sorry babe.) He was determined not to do any celebrating (he doesn't like the attention he says) and I was still in CA on his birthday, so the next weekend I made him a nice meal of Hawaiian Haystacks (his choice) and one of my Grandmother's famous chocolate cakes (mine tasted nowhere NEAR as good as hers!):
My little brother Andrew's birthday was July 13th. 22! I can't believe it. So, I took him to dinner at Happy Sumo (mmmm... sushi...), made him a [non-chocolate] cake (because he doesn't eat chocolate. What is with these guys and not wanting chocolate? Does not compute in my brain.) and then I took him to a 6:15pm preshowing of Harry Potter 7.2 the next day.
Hopefully later tonight I'll have another post about my weekend!

Teaser Elaboration
Man, it has been a crazy week so far (and it's only Wednesday!), so you can all thank the fact that I'm in an all-day AtTask training today for me being able to write this post.
I am going to try and make this as brief as possible... but yeah, if I don't succeed I hope you wont hate me.
So, the first weekend of July, my brother and I traveled home to CA to help my Mom and Step-dad move into their new house. And by move I actually mean paint and clean the old house in preparation for the renters to move in, since my parents actually "moved" before we got there. I chose to fly because that would [usually] give me more time at home without taking more time off of work. Well, our flight was set to leave Thursday evening at 7:35. This was to be a 1hr flight to Vegas with a 1 hr layover and then another 1hr flight to Ontario, CA. 3hrs all together. Not too shabby.
Well, to preface this story, I should tell you that the week previous to my flight was a nightmare. I was going from 7:30am-11:00pm straight, every single day. It was the end of the quarter at work, which meant that I had to make sure everything I was working on that quarter got finished so that I could get my quarterly bonus. I also had to do a bunch of preparatory work for the next week since I was going to be out of town for so long. So I was doubled up at work and on top of that, I had just received a new calling in church that required me to be in meetings Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night until late. On top of that, another reason I was going to CA was so that I could receive my endowments in the San Diego Temple, so I had to find time before I left to purchase everything I needed in preparation for that, which proved to be a little more difficult than I had planned. On top of that, I hadn't seen Chad in 2 weeks. Suffice it to say, I was running around like crazy, I was exhausted everyday, and I was quickly approaching my breaking point. Also, I was more stressed because I knew my trip home wasn't going to be relaxing; I was going to be working hard and every day was pretty planned out, so I just didn't see an end in sight.
So, when I arrived at the airport an hour early on Thursday evening, I had JUST missed seeing Chad, who had left Roosevelt early to try and see me before I left for the weekend, I was tired, anxious about missing my flight, and emotional. Then I found out that my flight had been delayed 40 minutes. Immediately I was bummed out because, had I known that in advance, I would have been able to see Chad. But I shrugged that off. They told me I would still be able to make my connection flight alright, so I took a deep breath and pressed on. Then I went through security. Lucky for me, I had forgotten to take my $15 hairspray out of my carry-on, so when the security guard pulled me aside to go through my bag, pulled out my hairspray and said, "this can't go," I lost it. I nodded politely, walked over to a bench, sat down, and cried. Did I care about the hairspray? No. That was my mistake. It was the week-worth of ridiculousness building-up. The hairspray just pushed me over the edge. I then said to my brother, "If one more thing goes wrong, I'm going to lose it."
Well, to spare you the rest of the dirty details, here's a drawing that I did that captures the emotions I felt for the rest of the night:
When I left for the airport, I was happy. Then in the car I was SUPER hot. Then I found out my flight was delayed. {then the whole hairspray debacle happened}. Then I was okay again and just worried about making our connection flight. Then I found out that our flight had been cancelled. Then I was holding back tears and an extreme emotional breakdown. {The rest of this sequence occurred in less than 4 minutes} Then they asked me if I wanted to change my flight to one that was leaving in t-4 minutes direct to LAX. Then I had 30 seconds to decide. Then I said yes. Then I got to the gate for the new flight and the plane was already boarded and the door was closed. Then they had to walky-talky into the plane for them to open the door and not leave us. Then they had to kick two pilots off of the flight to make room for us. Then we got on the plane. Then we were leaving, but my parents didn't know that we weren't flying to Ontario anymore and that we'd be arriving 2 hours earlier than expected. Then my mom wasn't answering her phone. Then I almost had a heart attack because they were telling us to turn off our phones, but I didn't even know when our flight was going to arrive. Then I called my stepdad and gave him a cryptic and frantic message to give to my mom. Then I had to turn off my phone and hope to heaven that my Mom would get the message and not be mad at me. Then I put my headphones on and wearily started to pray.
Well, GOOD NEWS! My mom got the message, but got stuck in crazy LA traffic for 4 hours, so we waited in the airport until 11pm (12am in my brain). Then the freeway was shut down on the drive back so we had to take a long detour. Then we didn't get home until 1:30 in the morning (2:30am in my brain). The next was when I was supposed to go to the temple.
The temple was a totally awesome and tender experience.
Then during the weekend we watched 2 firework shows. Though by the 4th of July we were all so pooped that we watched the fireworks out of a second story window in our new house.
Then we spent 3 entire days painting and cleaning the old house, which was a much more involved project than any of us expected. Luckily there was an army of angels who volunteered to come and help us (we were up against a deadline, of course). At one point I even painted a bathroom ceiling whilst standing on a bathroom counter and leaning backward and forward as if I was a limbo champion.
AND THEN, the cherry on top. Our flight out went off without a hitch. We were exhausted, it was going to be late when we arrived in SLC. I had to work early the next morning. When we got to Phoenix for our layover, we had plenty of time for food and everything. Then, 20 mins before our flight was to depart, there was a GIANT sandstorm and all the world went brown. You couldn't see anything. All flights were grounded. Most flights were cancelled. We didn't end up leaving until 11:30pm. And long story short, we didn't get home until 3am. Poor kid who picked us up had to work at 6am.
Apart from all that, I spent my weekend being completely full pretty much all of the time, enjoying as much of my family's company as possible, and getting high off of paint and cleaner fumes.
Good times had by all.

And Now, A Word About American Idol...
Yeah, I watched [some] of it.
Enough to see this happen:
Which was then enough for my jaw to drop (yeah, at a girl), my hands to push away the bag of M&M's I was eating, and my mind to briefly consider going bulimic just this one time.
It is now my goal to look like Carrie Underwood as soon as humanly possible (she's the one on the left, in case you didn't know).

Okay, you can stop laughing now. It's not nice.
I really think I can do this. I just have to eat less than 500 calories a day, work out for 3 hours straight, 6 days a week, and get super tan. It's going to be great. I already went out and purchased my healthy food and swore off sugar for the remainder of my existence (ha! yeah, right.)
Also, please don't tell Chad. He'll think I'm doing this for him (yeah, he drools over Carrie - and quite frankly, I don't blame him). But really, I'm doing it because I just want to be her.
I would also accept Jennifer Aniston
(with her sneaky hot body in Just Go With It)
Your words of encouragement, compliments, support, gifts, and donations will all be greatly appreciated.
