Thanksgiving = L.O.V.E.

This Thanksgiving was all about love for me.

Did you know that I have 7 fathers? Well, neither did I until last week.

It all started last Tuesday. I went into work that morning planning on working until 2:00pm and then hopping into my car and hitting the road to California. I was at work for almost an hour when my boss came over to my desk in a frenzy and said, "Raechel, you need to leave now." A little alarmed and then slightly skeptical (picture my eyes narrowing a bit...) I replied with a "why...?" My boss then preceded to inform me that there was a HUGE blizzard coming to Utah and I'd better hightail it out of the state as fast as possible in hopes of not getting stranded in it. I thought... ok, well where in Utah is it hitting? Because if it's just in the North then that's not really going to be a problem.

But after a few minutes of my boss going on and on about it, the rest of the guys on my team joined in and it was unanimously decided that I was leaving RIGHT then. Fatherly questions like, "Do you have air in your tires?" and "Do you have a blanket and food in your car?" followed. It really was quite heart warming. I had no idea that the people on my team cared so much about me.

After I left, I received numerous phone calls, text messages, and facebook messages throughout the day from friends and family members who were worried about my being stranded in the blizzard, alone, in the middle of nowhere, freezing to death. And you know what? It really did give me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Every once in a while you just need to be reminded that people actually care. Last week was one of those weeks where I needed a reminder, and I got loads.

And then there was the part where a friend of mine gave me a bag of treats to sustain me on my voyage. And then there was the point in the drive where I was literally driving into a gorgeous sunset while listening to Elvis serenade  me with his version of Unchained Melody whilst snacking on tootsie rolls (my favorite candy - in case you missed that somehow).

And then there was seeing my sweet baby niece:
And that is ALWAYS about love.
