Do I have time to be posting a blog tongiht? NO... but of course I'm doing it anyways. It's been some crazy week, let me tell you. I've been partying it up since I've been graduated and back in Provo. It's like a new me has been released and all of a sudden, I'm kinda fun! However, fun has meant staying up way too late and that has definitely caught up with me. Apparently my immune system doesn't find that as entertaining as I do. What is it this time? I dunno. Probably strep throat. I'll find out tomorrow. I'll tell you what though, it's not looking good.
In other news, I got a job. It was kind of funny how it happened. A friend sent me a text message about it on Monday and had me email my resume to him (because it was an opening at the company where he works) so he could give it to his HR rep. Then on Tuesday I had work at 4:00 so I spent the day running errands. And I ran a lot of them. I mean, I had to go get some tinting removed off the back windshield of my car so that I could go get it rechecked at the Utah Safety and Emissions place so that I could finally finish the registration process for my car. So I went to the tinting place, then to the S&E place, then to the DMV (which in Provo is amazing! I've never waited longer than 5 minutes and the people actually seem cheerful), and then I went over to the grocery store to pick up a few essentials and some loaves of bread for Kathryn's sister, (which I still need to mail...) and while I was at the store, my friend called me and said, "So they are doing interviews TODAY. Can you come now?" I was like "uhhhhh.... ok...." By this time it's 2:45pm. I have work at 4:00 and I had to go to this interview by 3:30. So I RUSHED home, changed into some more professional clothes, grabbed the most recent copy of my resume that I could find, and flew off to Orem for the interview. On the way there I had to call my boss and tell her I'd be late and make sure that was ok. Then I got there, did the interview and felt like things went great. As soon as the interview was over and I got to work, I started to feel extremely ill. I mean, I got a headache, I got the chills, my face started to burn and I knew I had a fever, I got stomach cramps so bad that I couldn't stand up straight and I felt so weak that I could pass out at any second. Let's just say there were some desperate prayers being said seeing as how I had to live with that for 5 hours before I could go home and deal with it.
Once I got home I collapsed, drugged myself up, and went to bed. After the interview had ended, they told me that they were going to make their decision the next day (they interviewed 7 people for this position) and that they'd let us know. So while I was drugged and ill, with a fever of 102, I kept waking up every 2-3 hours looking at the time to see if they'd be at work yet, then to see if they might call me. Finally at around 2:30pm, (yes I was still in bed at that time - I was SICK I tell you!) I started to feel discouraged.
My thoughts:
They've been at work since 8:00 and have had plenty of time to make a decision by now. Oh no. Maybe I should pray. Is it stupid to pray for something like that? Oh who cares? Pray anyways. If it's not right, you wont get it and the Lord will show you a better way. Ok fine, I'm praying.
Still feeling slightly stupid, I roll over and manage to get up on my knees.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for blessing me with time to sleep while I don't feel well. Thank you for (blah blah blah...)
And Heavenly Father, this job seems like a really great opportunity for me and, let's face it, it's really hard to find a job these days - especially in Provo, and I really don't want to have to keep looking (but I will if there's something better out there...) But really, please bless them to call me! And...
RING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My head SHOOTS up.(You know that scene in The Best Two Years where the missionaries are praying for that investigator to call and then the phone rings right after? Yeah... this was pretty much like that)
No... it couldn't... could it? My hand dashes to the phone.
I don't recognize the phone number. It's an 801! Oh man! Clears throat.
"This is Raechel."
"Hi Raechel, this is Austin at At Task..."
And basically they were really impressed with me and wanted to extend an offer to me for the position.
Moral of the story: Prayers in the morning DO get answered. Just in case anyone was wondering.
And P.S. this job is full time, with full benefits, and 15 days paid vacation a year and paid holidays. I can live with that.
