Defying Distance

I wish I was the wind
So I could carry myself to you
On a warm summer's breeze,
And you'd always think of me
As I blew softly through the trees.

If I could be a wave of light,
I'd travel at light's constant speed
To all the places that you are.
You'd feel my warmth embracing you
With rays from day's embered star.

If I were the wind,
Or a ray of sunlight,
I could always be exactly where you are.
And it wouldn't matter - near or far -
Because we'd never be apart.
