We ARE the Future

Ok, this post has been a long time coming, and normally I would post it on The Rant Blog, but let’s face it, only like, four people know about that blog and I like the posts I write to actually be read (and hopefully appreciated).

So, here’s the thing. It’s the year 2010. Ten years have passed since Y2K when everyone thought it was going to be the end of the world.  People, we live in the future. Have you ever thought about that? We ARE the future! Book after book has been written about our day – about the advanced technology, the riches, the government, etc. And this is it; we’re here!

…Does anyone else feel like it’s a little anti-climactic?

I mean, what I want to know is, where the heck are the flying cars?

Shouldn’t we be living in colonies on the moon by now?

Shouldn’t robots be doing my chores and bringing me my dinner? (For free, of course, because you don’t have to pay robots).

I feel as though science has failed us.  Either that or there’s a whole society of advanced people and technology that the government is hiding from us because they’re just waiting to expand that as far as they can and gain total control and then destroy the rest of us in some huge conspiracy for power.  *shudder*

Oh well, at least I have this handy device.

It really does  make life so much easier.

Got nothing on moon colonization, mostly because Obama's less than positive stance on NASA funding.

The only one that's really legit is the sQuba. Sure, you have to drive in your swim trunks, but who doesn't do that anyway?

I'm with ya on this one Friendo. I think the imaginings of the past were bigger than the drive to make them happen.

Every now & then a new invention will come along that reminds me of something from the "future" of my childhood days.

I think we could actually have a lot of that stuff by now if things/people had done things differently. We might not have some of the socioeconomic problems that we deal with today if that had been the case.

Anyways, good food for thought. :)
