Yellow Brick Road

I was a lost, broken girl
hiding beneath ten foot walls
Searching for confident wings
from devils in angel's things
And then when you took my hand
I climbed up and breathed wind and sand
Thinking that I had found
emancipated building ground.
But I lost you,
and I lost what was true
as I was searching for you.

So I turned brass into gold
hoping it would fit in the mold
But the costume didn't quite fit right;
I saw you under fluorescent light
And I realized I'd lost the fight.

Now I'm a free flying bird
laying my own yellow brick road
Leading to somewhere unknown
so I can at last find myself
And while I hope you will find
a smile and some peace of mind,
I'm letting go of the thorny rope
and sailing with a new found hope.

And I'll miss you,
My almost love;
broken and growing up.
But I'll keep you always,
here with me
As a sifted memory.

You gotta warn people when you're revamping the design. I mean, I'm sitting in the middle of class, and almost said "whoa" out loud. It would have been awkward because the professor was going on about cancer. A heads-up could have saved me the couple heart beats.
Also, I like the new header.

Nicely handled, Veruka, as usual.
I do like the revamp.

As per your request, I'm going to comment on this one. So as not to clutter your comment box, I'm going to write about all of the posts right here. First, I love this poem! great flow and clear structure. I love that every line has it's own meaning. Great stuff.

On the "I'm sorry madre" and "robbing the cradle" posts, I laughed quite a bit :) if it helps any, some of us men have given up as well. haha

the Shawn White post was inspiring, he is one of the very few athletes I look up to, I'm glad to see him interpreted like that!

As far as the spiders go, ew. I shivered four times when I read that. No joke, that was the worst thing I've endured all week! :)

You are very talented! Keep writing! It's safe to say that your blog is an inspiration for me to write in mine, no joke!
