I'm always wary of how I approach "resolutions" - they always seem cliche and they are hardly ever followed through with. However, I think it's healthy to set goals at the beginning of a new year - it helps you reevaluate life and circumstances and it helps motivate you to be proactive with your life, even if it is only for a couple months.
2009 was a rough year for me. It definitely did not go as I expected AT ALL. In fact, it may have been one of the hardest years of my life - for various reasons. But, instead of listing all the bad/hard things I went through, I'd like to do what I did last New Years and attempt a positive outlook. I'm tired of negative people. They aren't fun, they bring me down, and I don't want to be one of them. So here's some of the good things that happened in 2009:
*I got the best grades of my college career and proved to myself that I AM smart enough
*I developed a better sense of what is important to me in relationships
*I learned to be more compassionate and gained a new perspective
*I visited the East Coast for the first time
*I made new friends, and strengthened other friendships
*I learned more about who I am and who I want to be
*I earned my BA degree in English
*I got a job that I really like that helped sustain me during school
*I got to meet my niece Jane
*I got an ipod touch :-)
*I lost 15 pounds
*I got to be a Relief Society teacher - and I love it!
*I went brunette, made an attitude adjustment, and started a better me
When I put it that way, it doesn't sound too shabby :-)
Now for some goals...
*Get into a regular yoga/gym routine and finally achieve the body I've been wanting
*Learn to play the guitar
*Do well on the GRE
*Get accepted to grad school
*Find a decent full time job
*Watch the coca cola intake (back to one a week)
*Be more social and HAVE FUN!
*Perhaps sell a piece of my artwork
*Win a poetry contest or get a poem published
*Do more service
*Make regular temple attendance a bigger priority
*Meet the man of my dreams (haha just kiddin! Though, not going to lie, I wouldn't mind)
Well there you go, I think that's a good start. If I can make even a few of those happen, I'm destined to have a more fulfilling life :-)
Don't let me down 2010.

Sounds like lofty goals daughter ;) I hope all your dreams come true!
I'm excited to start these out with you, as many of these commitments are things I want to do too.
Glad we can push each other and enjoy the last (hopefully) of our Utah time!
You were a GREAT relief society teacher.
Hope you get all you want and more in 2010!
